The Corporate Affairs Summit is returning to Auckland in June 2025.

The Summit congregates senior communications and corporate affairs executives for a one-day, cross-sector conference designed to unravel the complexity of operating in a world shrouded in uncertainty.

As an independent and closed event, the Summit hosts both speakers and delegates from across the national and around the world, facilitating networking and shared learning between key leaders of industry.

Roger is responsible for developing and leading the implementation of Bupa Asia Pacific’s sustainability, communications and stakeholder engagement strategies. He is a strong believer in driving progressive change for people, planet and communities.

He is in his second period at Bupa, having previously held the position of General Manager, Corporate Affairs, where he was instrumental in the launch of the Bupa brand in Australia and New Zealand. He has also held senior leadership roles with the Victorian Government's Department of Health and Human Services, and executive positions at Treasury Wine Estates and Cadbury. Roger’s considerable international experience includes roles for Telefonica Europe and for the British Government as Special Adviser to both the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and the Secretary of State of Culture, Media & Sport.

Roger holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Studies and a Master of Political Studies (Hons.) from the University of Auckland. In 2022, Sustainability Magazine named him one of the world’s Top 100 Sustainability Leaders.

Roger is the proud father of two children, and a passionate supporter of both Manchester City FC and the New Zealand All Blacks. In his spare time he enjoys travelling, watching film and listening to music – and a glass of wine!

Mat Bolland oversees Air New Zealand’s government relations, regional, cultural, and regulatory affairs, and communications functions.

Joining the airline in May 2021, his corporate affairs career has spanned over 20 years across the energy, water, and telecommunications industries.

Prior to joining Air New Zealand, Mat led Corporate & Regulatory Affairs at 2degrees, where he led the company's advocacy programme to change market structure supporting the rapid growth of the mobile challenger.

Mat has lead organisations through periods of crisis and significant change, where he has developed and strengthened the reputation of some of New Zealand's best-known organisations.

John leads the Corporate External and Legal Affairs team at Microsoft, which is responsible for providing commercial legal counsel, regulatory compliance, and public policy advocacy outreach across Australia and New Zealand.

Before assuming this role, John held several key positions at Microsoft. From 2015 to 2023, he served as the General Manager for Global Public Affairs at Microsoft’s global headquarters. In this role he led a team that supported the company’s international network of government and corporate affairs professionals in advancing Microsoft’s public policy, commercial, and societal impact goals. From 2009 to 2014, John was the Regional Director for Government Relations, where he coordinated Microsoft’s public policy, government affairs, and industry relations across the Asia-Pacific region. From 2006 to 2009, he served as the Director of Corporate Affairs & Citizenship for Microsoft Australia, overseeing government and industry engagement, community affairs, and the company’s corporate citizenship strategy.

Prior to joining Microsoft, John was the Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at BAT Australasia for over seven years and from 1993 to 1998 held several senior advisory positions in Australian federal politics, including the roles of Manager of Media and Communication for the Liberal Party of Australia and Acting Executive Director for the Menzies Research Centre.

John currently serves on the board of the Public Affairs Council and the Global Partnership for LGBTI Equality. He has previously served on the board of the Asia Cloud Computing Association, US-ASEAN Business Council, and World Affairs Council.

John holds degrees in Business Communication from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and in Political Science from the Australian National University (ANU). He resides in Sydney with his husband, Jamie.

Leela joined Spark as Corporate Relations and Sustainability Director in January 2020, bringing with her close to 20 years’ experience in corporate and agency roles in New Zealand and Australia. Prior to joining Spark Leela was Head of Communications at Fletcher Building, and before this External Relations Director at beverages group Lion in Australia. As Spark’s Corporate Relations and Sustainability Director Leela is responsible for reputation management, internal communications, government, industry, and community engagement, sustainability strategy, and the charitable activities of the Spark Foundation. She also serves as a Trustee on the Spark Foundation Board. Leela holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Technology Sydney.

Nirupa joined SkyCity as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer in June 2021 and is responsible for leading SkyCity’s corporate affairs activities, including government, community and industry stakeholder relations and SkyCity’s public policy and advocacy.

Before joining SkyCity, Nirupa was Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Auckland (Phil Goff) and was responsible for running the Mayor’s office and executing his political priorities. Prior to this, she ran Mayor Goff’s successful mayoral campaign in 2016 and worked in Parliament as a Political and Media Advisor. Early in her career, Nirupa was a Senior Solicitor specialising in refugee and humanitarian law.

Nirupa is currently the vice-Chair of Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand and Chair of its Membership and Stakeholders Committee, and a member of the Heart of the City Auckland’s Executive Committee (representing SkyCity). She holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Auckland.

As the General Manager Brand & Marketing for Downer Group since July 2023, Helene is a seasoned professional with international experience in marketing and corporate communications in the Infrastructure and Utilities sectors. From managing campaigns for Veolia in Asia and the Middle East to leading communications at Walgreens Boots Alliance in London for Alliance Healthcare, she has a proven track record of driving impactful corporate affairs strategies.

Since settling in New Zealand in 2017, Helene has played an active role in developing Chorus' B2B marketing practice and leading the reputation team at Downer New Zealand. In her current role, she is responsible for leading and implementing a comprehensive trans-Tasman brand strategy and spearheading the creation and deployment of the company's new Purpose and Culture. Through this role, Helene also contributes to Government engagement in New Zealand.

Beyond her professional roles, Helene is deeply committed to business community initiatives, serving as Vice-President of the French New Zealand Chamber of Commerce, a Board Member of the New Zealand Business & Parliament Trust, and contributing to women's empowerment through her involvement with Women in Construction in Auckland.

Helene holds an international management bachelor's degree from Neoma Business School and a master's degree in strategy from Paris University I Panthéon-Sorbonne.

Conor has worked in both public and private sector communications roles including the NZ Super Fund, MYOB, Spark NZ, Todd Property Group, Pead PR and Auckland Council.
